FAO is supporting local economic development through technical cooperation projects and multi-shareholders policy dialogues. In 2017 FAO facilitated two sessions during the 4th World forum on Local Economic Development held in Praia, Cabo Verde. The first session was an interactive panel on City to City Cooperation for Food Security and Local Economic Development, with majors from Europe, Africa and Latin America. Current collaboration projects proved to be crucial towards sustainable local economic development and to build sustainable food systems that ensure food security for all. The second session was a learning agenda on the Blue Economy, Exchange of experience amid Small Island Developing States. The FAO Blue Growth initiative was presented and discussed, as a key process to optimize marine resources and consolidate the economic advantages of the sea, while creating employment and investment for island populations. © FAO: http://www.fao.org
